How Did I Apply?
Jaipur is my hometown so I basically applied with an application and my CV. I submitted the hard copy and after that we had a talk with the secretary and finalized the dates.
First Day Formalities, Infrastructure And First Impression
On the first day the information about the working of the commission, its powers, how the appeals are scrutinized and all was given. We had a small talk with the Chief information commissioner and he approved the internship and told us to have an overall experience in the commission.
All the work was done in Hindi. The commission is working in offline manner and hence, our internship was also offline.
In the beginning, we were apprised about how the appeals accepted and scrutinized for different courtrooms. The other day, we were allowed to sit in the courtrooms of CIC and ICs and to read files before the hearings started. We had interactive sessions with the CIC and ICs about RTI act, working of the commission, the functions and powers of it. Then we got to know about the very crucial role of the registrar in RIC and his functions. We got to attend daily hearings in any courtroom we chose. The interactive sessions with the authorities helped us enhance our knowledge of the work.
The work environment was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. They helped us whenever and however possible. Everyone was good with their work and they try to decide upon the cases as soon as possible and work in the best fastest possible way. All the official work is done in Hindi language.
Accommodation, Commuting To Office
Since, I am a Local of the Jaipur city I have my own place to live. I commuted mainly by two-wheeler, auto or Ola/uber bike, which one can find easily in Jaipur. The commission is in a prime location and that is why it is easily reachable. There are PGs nearby where one can live and commute easily from there to the commission.
We got to know the powers and areas of jurisdiction of the state information commission and had the opportunity to interact with the Chief information commissioner, D.B. Gupta sir and Other Information Commissioners including Narayan bareth sir, Laxman singh rathore sir and Sheetal dharkhar ma’am; which totally changed and enriched our knowledge and outlook of the life.
The commission is at a very good place you can go out nearby to eat after work. The staff might offer you tea if they see you sitting around. Working hours for interns can be flexible.
Initially, we found a lack of an internship program in RIC and we roamed around on a few days in the beginning. Other than that, the experience here was very good and enlightening as a law student.
Overall Rating Out Of 5
Working in RIC as an intern was a very satisfactory and enlightening experience. Although at the very beginning we thought that this internship would be unproductive but gradually we learnt so much and the staff was very friendly and helpful that it changed our perception. One should really try interning here for the knowledge and the life lessons as well. I would recommend this internship to the beginners of 5 year integrated law course. Out of 5 the rating would be 4.75.
