The Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education project is a nationwide movement that aims to empower underprivileged and marginalised communities in India by transforming students from such communities into world-class lawyers and community leaders.
It runs on the backbone of student volunteers spread through the length and breadth of India.
Interning with the IDIA will mean being part of the teaching process for the IDIA scholars.
While most students would cherish the process of teaching in itself, the IDIA experience is that much more of a process of self-discovery in that it deals with children who have managed to devise incredibly ingenuous ways of learning for themselves.
This internship presents the opportunity of being part of something extraordinary, something that might change the face of legal education in the country, and will definitely change your paradigm of life.
All interns will be expected to help with a wide variety of work. For instance, they may be expected to conduct weekly classes, act as scribes for practice tests, help in analysis of test results etc.
All students who have graduated from school, and are currently enrolled in a course in Law or are graduates from the same, are qualified to apply.
In 2014, IDIA has nominated its best performing team leaders and deputy team leaders for internships at law firms such as AMSS, JSA, Trilegal, Luthra and Luthra, and AZB as well as corporates such as GE, Microsoft, Thomson Reuters, and LexisNexis.
IDIA is looking to provide similar opportunities this year too and the same will be extended to outstanding Deputy Team leaders.
An exceptional Team Leader will also have an opportunity to participate in an internship programme at the Singapore office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, a top international law firm
