Duration of internship and timings
I had applied for a four week internship and this is the ideal time for which you should do an internship under any lawyer in a court. The timings were from 7:45 AM in the morning to 1:30 PM in the afternoon (The timing of High Court during summers).
After this you can have a break and then go to Office in the evening for research work.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first impression you spend a day in a High Court is that you get to know the amount of burden that is on the judiciary and how much less time a lawyer has to present his/her case in front of a bench.
You have to wear formals in High Court otherwise you will not be allowed to enter into the court room.
The infrastructure of Rajasthan High Court is very good and the court rooms are air conditioned.
My main task as a first year intern was to know about the working of the court and different benches. I had the opportunity to hear arguments in all types of court room ranging from civil to criminal cases.
Then in the office you had to read the different cases that my lawyer had under him and some which were already decided. I was asked what would had been my arguments in that case in the high Court and how would I had proceeded.
Work environment and people
The work environment was very good. You get to know and talk to many lawyers and get a first hand information about the legal system.
You get to know about the working of the court, how cases are filed and you also get to know the nature of different benches regarding certain matters.
You will know how a judge is going to react in certain type of situations and it helps you to figure out how to fight similar cases in front of different benches. It served as a basic lesson for you if you are going to practice in future.
