Internship @ National Legal Services Authority NALSA, New Delhi : Eye Opener, Observing Proceedings, Analysing Petitions, No Stipend

National Legal Services Authority, 12/11, Jam Nagar House, Shahjahann Road, New Delhi.

The office was quite spacious.

Team strength was around 17-18 people.

Application procedure. Internship contact details

The application procedure is quite easy.

The applicant just have to send a mail to [email protected] with a cover letter attached to it a copy of the C.V.

After which the concerned authority person will confirm the students about his/her application being accepted and will confirm their dates according to the batches available.

In order to intern there you have to apply a little early as the batches get filled because of the first come first serve preference.

Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings

22 May to 11 June. Only 5 days in week i.e Monday-Friday. Timings 10 a.m- 5 p.m.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

Its a little difficult to find P.G near the office as it is a commercial area.

Well you can visit Khan Market in order to chill and have your Lunch. Most of the interns are found hanging there itself.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

The very first day we had an orientation in which we were told about the workings and functions of national legal services authorities.

Also we were told that how the petitions were filed. And were given the institutions guidelines booklet and bare act.

Main tasks

We were given petitions to read and report them.

Also we were audience to a video conference which was based on the child rights and their protection.

We were also asked to join and observe the proceedings.

Then we were given a schedule which stated our visits to different places like Patiala house Court, Juvenile Justice Board, Mediation Center Tiz Hazari, Tihar Jail, Parliament also.

Work environment, people

The work environment there is very good as the mentor’s will always treat you very nicely.

Best and the bad things?

The best thing was that apart from these works we were told about many other different legal aspects.

The internship at national legal services authority was also an eye-opener as well as helped in gaining knowledge.
