National Green Tribunal, Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal, a big unit comprising of one environment expert, one judge and one managing director.
Application Process with contact details
I applied by submitting an application the the managing director which consisted of my CV and a recommendation letter from the University. The admission of interns is conducted on first come first serve basis.
Duration of internship and timings
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first day was amazing. We were asked to sit in courtroom number 1 and to see the proceedings.
After the proceedings all the interns were divided into different groups and tasks were allotted based on the ongoing cases in the tribunal.
My group was under the control of Mr. Shivandu Sir who is also an advocate in NGT, Bhopal.
The main tasks in NGT were attending courtroom proceedings and analyzing the decisions of Expert Members in Tribunal.
We, when got divided into different groups were allotted certain tasks including making report on ongoing cases, case analysis, writing papers and going through the case files.
Some of the report making tasks were also allotted by the Judicial members of the tribunal.
Work environment and people
The working environment in the tribunal is very professional and they are strict about the timings.
The managing director always kept a check on us and a separate register was maintained in which we have to do entries before entering the tribunal.
We were allotted tasks under Shivendu sir and interaction with other members was less as they don’t allow us to talk much in the tribunal.
Best working ambiance, air conditioned campus and less workload.
Other than this the courtroom sessions were very flexible and we got to learn about the environmental issues and laws relating to it.
Not much work to do and less things to learn. The internship program of NGT should be improved and include new task which lead to better learning.
The biggest lesson which I got to learn is punctuality and be on time. Due to the strictness of managing director and other members we daily had to report on time and this improved my punctual skills.
Other than this I got to learn about the Environmental laws in India and also the importance of punctuality in Judiciary.
I stayed at my relatives home but, since, NGT is in the main city that is near DB Mall, you will not find any problem in finding PG’s or hostels.
Many hostels are also available in M.P. NAGAR Zone 2 region of Bhopal which is near NGT.
The timings were from morning 10 AM till evening 5 PM with a break of around one hour in between at 1:30 PM for lunch after the proceedings.
