Application Process with contact details
Application process is simple. A letter of recommendation by the respective college that you are in is required with an application to the registrar of NGT, mentioning the date from which you would commence your internship. This is to be sent via post.
After the confirmation by the registrar, your name would be registered in the internship register maintained by the institution.
The minimum number of day required to complete the internship is 21 days only after which you would be given the certificate.
The address is National Green Tribunal, Central Zonal Bench, State information Commission building, Area hills, Bhopal-462011
Contact- Mr. Dev Narayan Patel, Registrar.
Duration of internship and timings
December, 2015 – January, 2016.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
NGT was at the 3rd floor of State Information Commission building.
The office was small confined to one floor only.
There was a court room where the cases are heard.
On the very first day, you are required to mark your attendance by signing in front of your name in the internship register.
This should be done on a daily basis.
Our main task was to hear the proceedings which takes place in the court room and to jott down the main issues of the cases.
Then a lawyer would take a class in which the issues are discussed.
Interns are required to study the bare act of NGT and then a project is given by making a group of three.
The project topic is given by the institution and should be researched and given in the days of internship.
If the project seemed to be well researched a viva is taken and then the project is being accepted.
Work environment and people
The ambiance of the office was good. People are interactive as well as dedicated towards the work they are provided with.
As a first year, the best things which I experienced in NGT were the proceedings, and the classes taken by different lawyers.
The proceedings are informative as we get to know about many issues related to environment laws.
An intensive discussion takes place in the class followed by group discussion which help us in understanding the issues as well as to present our views in front of other people.
The thing which I found is bad in NGT is that they are very lenient. Some students just sign their attendance and leave and no one pays heed to it.
The other thing is that vivas are not taken for all the projects. So some students just copy paste the whole project rather involving themselves in doing research.
No stipend is provided.
The biggest lesson that I have learned is that if you want to intern at NGT you have to be dedicated towards your internship.
If you are not then there are ways you can fool the people and leave after marking your attendance.
I would suggest to not resort to such practices.
Internship provides you a platform to learn and explore things.
NGT itself will provide you ample opportunities to explore things.
You would get to learn about various aspects of environmental laws and also sections provided in the NGT bare act.
Involve yourself in research of the provided project topic.
Any Other Thing
