First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First day ,I was directed to see the Interns in-charge Advocate Sangeeth Raj, a young dynamic and a passionate lawyer in his thirties. He greeted me with a smile and explained about the functioning of the office and introduced me to various desk in charges of cases.
I was asked to prepare a case note and later he taught me how to counsel a client and prepare a brief. Then I was taken to the Library and the files room where they kept case files and other materials.
As I was in my fourth year they entrusted me with great responsibilities.
Firstly, preparing client briefs and drafting petitions. I was asked to accompany counsels and assist them in their court room functions starting from the lower RDO Courts to High Court.
The interns in charge asked me to kept a diary on court visits done and prepare a note on the cases. Every week the interns diary are evaluated and suggestions are given.
Later I was taken to Court Offices to describe how to get a copy application, files or other materials that is needed for conducting the cases.
I have entrusted to assist a counsel in a criminal litigation by finding case laws, preparing points to argue etc.
Work environment and people
The working environment is super cool. All the associates are very friendly and interns are given training on all respective spheres of law like Criminal, Civil, Accident Claims, Corporate Advising, Local Self Government, Banking, etc.
The Best Things, for me everything was best during my internship period. Firstly I have got an opportunity to assist the Senior Counsel in an Arbitration.
Secondly the direct Court Room experiences on how to argue a case, the presentation, style etc. Finally how to be a good lawyer when you get enrolled.
There weren’t any bad things as all the experiences and knowledge that I gained was the best.
No Stipend. The Experiences and Knowledge gained is lot more than stipends.
Have a dedication to your work assigned because when it comes to be a successful lawyer.
