Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
I stayed at my relative’s place but my co-interns had no problem in finding PG’s and food is not a problem in Mumbai. Mumbaaikars have a lot to serve its guests and there are numerous paying guest’s in the nearby areas. Staying near CST and Churchgate will be the best option for an intern.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
I was very impressed from the very first day. They make you feel very comfortable and even if you agree that you don’t know a particular law, they would give you time to read it.
They would introduce you to the different partners and different areas of the office, so that you do not get lost. If lucky sometimes you’ll get to share a tea or coffee with your head as to make you feel more relaxed.
Main tasks (in detail)
I researched and assisted in various arbitration matters and summary suits, administrative suits, testamentary suits, Caveat Form of the rules, Leave and License agreement, providing notices to other parties, making written statements and filing application for the registration of trademark and etc.
Regardless which year you belong to and what all subjects you have been taught to , you’ll be made to study, understand and then research on that topic.
Work environment, people
Very comforting and absolutely friendly people. Everybody from the interns head to the HR to the different associates I worked with or I worked for were truly amazing hardworking people who gives you positive energy to work for more hours and get satisfied with your work.
Even if you are not satisfied with the amount of work given by the partner that you work under, you could inform them about it and they will give you the adequate amount of work that you want to do and satisfy yourself and learn more.
Also you will be working for different associates at a time and that keeps you going and work more efficiently.
The office of Mulla & Mulla, Mumbai is a little messy, but you get used to it.
What did you do to chill?
The office is in Fort area and Colaba Causeway was nearby which is one of the best places for street shopping. There were great food places around, you have the Nariman Point & Gateway of India nearby and can go for a boat ride which just completes your trip to Mumbai.
Anything else you’d like to tell; Biggest lessons
Never sit idle in a firm, keep on working even if its clerical work keep on doing that. Sitting idle doesn’t leave a good impression on your associates and they tend to lose faith in your capability to work.
This happened with one of my co-intern who didn’t take his work seriously.
