First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
Luthra & Luthra Law Offices, Mumbai, is situated in the mounting towers of Indiabulls Finance Centre, at a stone throw distance from Elphinstone Road local station.
The office is located on the 20th floor and is savvy in its own way.
The HR introduces and welcomes you to the office and in a while, allots you to your respective teams. It might so happen, and happens quite rarely at Luthra, that you get introduced to the partner himself!
It is as varied as it could get!
You get piles and piles of research which is just not restricted to your home team. The associates come up to your desk and ask for whichever intern is free and then you walk them to their station and start over with your work.
Apart from that, you do lay your hands on a lot of due diligence. Meager proof-reading too, is an inevitable part of any law-firm internship.
However, the best part is the amount of exposure Luthra gives you in terms of work quality and self-development in the work itself.
Work environment and people
The associates are very patient towards the interns and are always ready for a one-on-one discussion on any assigned topic as well.
The entire lot was affable, approachable and inured to the regularities of a law firm environment.
Interns on the other hand, were given their own work station, along with individual set of extensions. You get to have your own set of stationery given to you on day one.
There is plenty of space to accommodate yourself suitably to work at your assigned pace. The library is well stocked.
Interaction with the associates and the partner (if you get the chance to!)
The pantry. Interns could order bread toast or maggi or any other confectionery at any point of the day. Additionally, coffee was served twice a day, at regular intervals.
If you have a thing for Subway, well, res ispa loquitur! There’s Starbucks in the ground floor as well. There is huge canteen downstairs where you could have your lunch, either ordered, or home-cooked!
1400 for three weeks.
The best of place for a law student to experience what it feels like to work at a corporate law firm!
