Internship @ Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, New Delhi: Approachable People, Research & Drafting

Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength

Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, New Delhi. A team of 100 (associates and partners).

Application Process

I applied through my college ICC in my III year for an internship in May 2014, though you can mail them at

Miss Khushboo Chester is their HR.

My advice would also be to mail them well in advance and pursue your application by calling them too. Luthra, Delhi takes a lot of people through contacts so be sure to apply well in time.

Plus one disadvantage is that Luthra Delhi replies very late (just one month before commencement of your internship).

Duration of internship and timings

Duration 4 weeks in May 2014

Official timings were 10 am – 7:00 pm. But I was asked to stay back several times, once till 11. However, they provided cab and also offered to order food]

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Luthra and Luthra is a big firm and has two floors all to itself in the Ashoka Estate building.

First day, all interns are collected in the conference room , then the HR personnel allocates interns their respective departments and we are soon introduced to senior associates or partners who allocated us work.

Main tasks

Work included research and drafting work. I never got the opportunity to do due diligence, but a lot of interns were given that kind of work too. I worked with the corporate restructuring department but got work from other departments also.

Mostly all interns sit in the intern room and associates keep calling and assigning work and interns take it up as and when they get free.

Work environment and people

All associates and partners are nice and approachable. There is a coffee machine for coffee(which they do not charge for). You can also have a proper lunch there by paying a small amount.

Located walking distance from CP, you can also go out during the lunch hour to grab lunch.

Best things

1. Good company law work.

2. Good location.

3. Decent timings.

4. Nice work environment.

5. Privacy to interns in the intern room to create as much din as possible.

Bad things

Some days there may be no work [only initially though].

200 per day [only to people from top 4 NLUs though]

Biggest Lessons

A good company law internship can teach one a lot.
