Well, there are umpteen PGs you can find in the nearby localities like Rajajinagar, Mahalakshmi etc.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
When I entered into the Snobby World Trade Centre Building, my pulse rate started increasing steadfastly. I made a Gate-pass in the reception and reached in the Firm.
The Office is on the 4th Floor. Having a glance at the infrastructure, the first thought that comes in my mind is the similarity with the ‘Suits’ cubicles.
Basically, First day was full of formalities, introduction and interaction process. I was told to wait in a Conference Room because the Internship Coordinator, the person whom I was asked to report was in a meeting.
It took approximately 45 minutes to fulfill all the formalities and I got the opportunity to interact with my mentor and other associates.
Soon, I was allotted my first work of the internship. Only two research works I was assigned on that day.
The main research areas include Companies Act 2013, FEMA Regulations, PFRDA Act, Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, Start-up Policy, Ecommerce Laws, EPF and GST.
Apart from the research works, I have drafted an appeal regarding the EPF issue.
The Research means not only to surf the internet, find out the relevant content and write it down. LKS believes in perfection and that reflects how you understand the matter and brief it shortly to the associate in your own words.
Work environment, people
‘Cool’ – in one word! The associates are always chilled and so are the partners. The Firm bases on the open-door policy.
If you have any doubt regarding the task or your career issues, you can at any time ask anyone for free advice.
Generally, The Interns mandatorily give presentation on the selected topic on the last day of their internship in front of all the partners and associates.
So, you should work hard for that since the commencement of your internship, as this is one of the key factors for evaluating your overall performance.
One of the best Internship experiences I gained from LKS. I learnt how a top tier law firm deals with perfection.
I can’t skip the food part also. Although you will daily be served Coffee and cookies, there is a food court in the 7th floor of WTC building also – a perfect place for you to overcome the monotonous days. Orion Mall can be another option too!
I may require a Microscope for that purpose. However, I can remember only one or two days when we spent the hours by updating ourselves with news and judgments.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
LKS itself has a relaxed environment. The associates are at the same time chilled and perfectionist.
During my internship period, I had only one co-intern in the Corporate team.
The rest were in Taxation and IPR teams. I was the only 3rd year student amongst the flock of 4th and 5th years.
More the knowledge you’ll gain in internships, higher the packages you’ll be offered in placements!
So, I prioritized Knowledge and happily finished the internship with no stipend.
LKS does not provide any stipend also.
Corporate Field may look fancy than litigation, but the reality somewhat converges in both the cases if you decide your area by considering the fanciness.
