One can obtain an internship only through personal contacts

Duration of internship and timings

8th June, 2015 – 10th July, 2015

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Had a positive impression on the first day. All the lawyers were very helpful and were responsive to your queries. My work on the first day was just reading some case files.

The firm was adequately furnished and was spread over a small room. There was a personal library which anyone could access.

Main tasks

The main tasks were researching cases and making briefs on it, and doing basic clerical work liking taking dates for the next hearing.

Work environment and people

The work environment was pretty relaxed and comfortable. All the senior lawyers were close to each other and there was a great sense of camaraderie between them. All the senior lawyers and their associates were approachable and helpful.

Best things

The best thing about the internship was that due to frequent visits to the court for obtaining Passovers and dates, received plenty of chances to interact with judges.

Also got a chance to learn basic filing procedures.

Bad things

The clerical work given was very basic in nature. After completion of the clerical work given, which was done in a short time period, there wasn’t anything else to do.

No stipend

Biggest Lessons

The biggest lesson that I learned from this internship was that the way the law is practiced in courts is different from what we learn in college. The procedures of court are rigid, the court proceedings in actual are not so formal, as opposed to to what mooting teaches us, and that there is a ton of paperwork and documentation involved which is highly important.

Any Other Thing

Since the office was located in South Extension-I, there was no dearth of hang out spots nearby.
