I have applied by sending my CV and recommendation letter on email id- I received the confirmation by an Email and was asked to submit the essential documents.

Duration of Internship and timings

29th May, 2017 – 30th June, 2017.

The timing of the office was usually from 10:00 am to 2:00, 6 days a week, the working hours can be extended to 3:00.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On the first day, we have submitted all the required documents asked by them and then have introduction with Sharad Sir, who managed the entire firm and under whose guidance and assistance all the interns work.

He had taken a brief introduction of us and then his junior associate Mohit Sir had given us some files of consumer dispute cases to read and to prepare the brief facts of the case.He explained us about the work, timings, rules, etc.He was quite helpful and calm.

The office was on the 2nd floor of the building. The Infrastructure of the office was quite good and impressive. It gives you a professional feel, there was a conference room, rooms for interns to do the work, and quite a big library.

Main tasks

The main work that I got to do here were:

The law firm deals with consumer disputes, civil cases, cases of Negotiable Instruments Act.

We use to read case files on consumer matter and then do the research work on the same case. Sometimes, Sharad sir give us typical cases to solve, it was quite an interesting task to do.

We were taught to how to draft the required documents to be filed in in consumer dispute cases.

During the Internship I had learned to draft all the documents which are necessary in consumer matters. They are-

Legal notice

Filing a complaint

Written Statement

Filing an objection

Filing Written Argument

Filing Revision Petition

Sometimes all the interns were asked to report to office and sometimes to the State Commission.

We also used to attend the State commission proceedings in different court rooms, before the proceedings get started, the case files in which our firm was appearing counsel was given to us to read. We use to listen the proceedings and jot out the brief of each case.

After the court proceedings were over, then Sharad sir have a group discussion with all the interns about the proceedings, we were free to ask any question, it was quite interesting and fruitful. Sometimes, we were also allotted some work to do by Sir.

After I was finished with everything related to consumer dispute cases, then I have also read some civil matters.

Work environment and people

I and couple of other co-interns interned under Sharad Sir. We can ask for work from Mohit Sir or Sharad Sir. There is lot of work to do, if u want to learn.

All the associates including Mohit Sir are extremely friendly& co-operative. Thus, the work environment was good, people there were friendly, helpful and co-operative.

Best things

The firm really gave a good amount of exposure in the litigation field. It had made a considerable growth in a very short span of time. If you are interested in litigation, then this firm has got to be in your list.

In one line, I can say only this much, that this is the best internship which I have ever done till now. I have learned a lot during this internship. I learned the entire procedure of consumer cases and how to make the required documents. This internship was quite fruitful for me.

Bad things

At the beginning the court proceedings were interesting, but after two to three visits, it becomes boredom, I like working in the office more as compared to attending court proceedings.

Prima facie, Sharad Sir appears to me very strict, in the beginningI was quite afraid and hesitant in asking questions with him…but, slowly and gradually, I got to know he was quite helpful, co-operative. He appreciates and value the diligent, hardworking& dedicated students.

No stipend, but the quality of work which I have learned there, was more than any stipend.

Biggest Lessons

The biggest lesson which I have learned during this internship is that-

No matter how much someone treat u badly and in an indifferent manner. Butyour positive & redundant attitude, dedication and hard work towards your work, is not only enough to change someone’s attitude towards you, but also forces them to appreciate u at the same time.

It was in my hometown.
