Our internship program was from 1st June to 22nd June (3 weeks).
There were two batch of near about 50 students and the timing for the office was different for different batches.
For the first batch it was from 11.30 AM to 01.30 PM and for the second batch it was 2 pm to 4 pm.
The timing was different if e had any visit for jail or any other place that is to be informed by the officials their.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
As first day is always an exciting day on every internship so i was too excited. The building of BSLSA is quite spacious and at good place in the middle of city so one can easily reach there.
After all the formalities of attendance and documentation A judicial officer who is also the intern coordinator, Kunal sir came and we had an introduction then he gave the introduced us from BSLSA and also told us about its work nature and hierarchy.
Then he gave us a project write up which we had to submit till the last day of internship.
The main task at the BSLSA was to attain the lectures which were given by savvy and adept persons in that particular field of that subject of lecture.
And also they organized different visit as jail visit, mediation center visit, court visit, Lok Adalat visit and legal awareness programs visit. We were suppose to participate actively in that program.
Work environment and people
The building was spacious and staffs were very cooperative. Their was friendly work environment. We got tremendous opportunity to meet few of the great intellectuals of their field like Amruta Soni for trans gender’s right and protection and Director of Judicial Acedamy Bihar, and many judicial officer and many guest lectures for introduction on child rights, women rights, man and women trafficking. They were very comprehensible and also very friendly to us.
We had got a subject to research in and to make FAQs for legal awareness program. We attended Help Age Foundation’s workshop and launching of old age Android app useful for old citizens. We met with other NGOs and tried to learn the way of their working and facts.
The lectures were interesting and there were many things to learn upon, they had class on most of the legal things and rights including RTI, an introduction to it and how to file and procedures of 1st appeal and 2nd appeal and further process. The place is very Beneficial for the students if they are going for 1st internship. The programs were very learned and worth attaining.
Bad thing at BSLSA is not that bad but there were no stipend and many lectures. Some time AC, when it is not working.
Attaining lectures will definitely give you many things of your general legal rights and things. We got opportunity to meet many NGOs that was really beneficial and also the good contracts for obvious reasons like your next internship and all.
Jail visit, meditation center, child home center and legal awareness visits were really helpful and learning there. More over that if you are good at writing or you are interest in judicial exams that place is very much helpful as it can help in contacts for publishing if you articles and legal docs and as every officers were judicial officers you can get a good help from them if you are interested in giving judiciary exams.
Any Other Thing
It is best place if you are doing internship for the first time. Officials are friendly and we can learn many things from them
No accommodation services were provided by the BSLSA but as it is situated in the middle of the city one can find some place on rent.
