Duration of internship and timings

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On 1st day there is a brief introduction about HRLN their works in the past and what are their expectation from you.

The infrastructure at HRLN isn’t spectacular. However, once Mr.K.K Roy introduced me to his team and briefed me about the responsibilities and task which I was expected to undertake.

Main tasks

Going to different places and doing empirical research, making report , drafting PIL. I was given a case on women’s security in government and non government organisations.

We held a field survey of many government and non government organisations. We as a team of 10 students from different university surveyed about 10 organisations.

Work environment and people

The work environment at the HRLN was splendid which can largely be attributed to the fact that interns were rewarded and encouraged for all the work done by them; Mr. Roy and his colleagues were very approachable and not at all intimidating.

Best things

After working successfully on a highlighted case every time, we got too much of media coverage.

Bad things

There is the fee you need to pay and no stipend or even allowances for daily expenses incurred for work, transport etc.

Stipend

None. You will be payed by knowledge only and nothing else

Biggest Lessons

Whilst I was rather skeptical about the work actually done by NGOs this experience changed that perception and got me to realize that NGOs such as the HRLN play a pivotal role in holding the bureaucracy accountable for their lapses.

Accommodation

As a local I didn’t need any pg though internship coordinator will help you find a pg in your desirable budget

Office Timings

The timings were 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a short break for lunch.
