Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
As my home is in Delhi, accommodation was not a problem. 10 minutes walk from sector 16 metro station
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
On the first day we were asked to reach by 9:30. The person who was the in charge of the interns entered at 10:30. We were given a form to fill in which we had to write our name, our college, duration of internship and sign an undertaking.
As soon as we entered there were not many associates. Half had gone to the court and rest were…ummm, Well I have no idea. They take more interns than they need I’d say! There was very little work on day one .
Main tasks (in detail)
Main work at Fox Mandal was to research on various topics. There were two floors, one where the litigation team used to sit and other accommodated the corporate team. Whenever there was some work the associates used to call and call the interns.
Main task in litigation was to research, draft evidence and replies and writing opinions. Corporate work comprised of researching on various new provisions of the companies act and other acts.
Work environment, people
Work at Fox Mandal, NOdia used to begin only after 11. Even then we had ask for work or wait till we were called.
There were two systems for 15 interns which was a problem as we had to use Manupatra and SCC online which were accessible only through the systems. Associates were otherwise very friendly and helpful.
Best things? (Nothing is all bad)
The Best thing was food! Great free food instead of stipend makes it up for everything . Good food helps you in working stress less.
Bad things? (Nothing is all good)
The BAD thing was there were too many interns and less work. Intake of interns should always be depending on the work.
Interns were more in number and work was less which made us feel bored at times.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
We were allowed to take 2 tea breaks a day. One at 10.30 am and another at 4.30pm. All the interns used to go to the cafeteria and relax and discuss the work given and other things.
No Stipend but a lot of good food , which kinda sums it up for all.
Anything else you’d like to tell; Biggest lessons
Lesson would be that the things that look easy should be taken seriously else it can turn the case against us only. Learnt drafting, researching. There is a lot to business law than just the Companies Act. Working in a law firm is not all that easy.
Lots of pressure is there and hence the money that most of the dream of by getting into a firm.
