Application Process with contact details
I mailed my CV to firstname.lastname@example.org
A follow up is necessary. Once my internship was confirmed, I received a call from them. You need to apply well in advance.
Duration of internship and timings
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
Fox and Mandal has two offices in the same area, distinguished as the Church lane office ( Corporate Law practices) and Old post office street office (Litigation). Interns shall be allotted any one of the offices depending upon the nature of their CV and interest.
I was allotted the Church lane office. The office infrastructure was fabulous which included large conference halls and a great Library and a CCD coffee Machine !!
On the first day, all interns are asked to fill a form with details of respective universities and they are further allotted mentors.
Since I was completing my pre-final year during the internship, I was given tasks relating to Corporate Law, Project Finance and Arbitration.
Further, I worked with one of the Principal Associates who gave me work relating to Intellectual Property.
Work environment and people
Most of the associates were highly approachable and were always willing to give work to the interns. As you become well versed with your mentor, you may ask work from other associates too. Further, depending upon the quality of your performance, you may be asked to work with a Principal Associate or a Partner.
I had an interaction with the partners and senior associates, who gave me some research work which were pretty interesting.
Fox and Mandal is one of the Oldest Law firms in India and it carries a great heritage in the legal spectrum. I was impressed by the quality of work given to me and it was an honor for me to work at such a great firm. Further, if you are foodie, there are tonnes of food stalls outside the office serving Bengali snacks and dishes. As it is adjacent to the High Court, you receive a vibe of the legal profession and the lawyer fraternity.
It is great place to learn corporate law and litigation. Further, socializing with the Partners and the Associates, made me realize my stand and how much hard work I need to put in to reach at their Level.
I am not sure about PGs as I am from Kolkata.
Timings were from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. But depending on your work, you may have to stay back or come in early if your concerned mentor is appearing in the court for a hearing.
