How did you apply for the internship?

I sent my CV to this email address & was selected by mail.

First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

I received formal communication of tasks either through email or WhatsApp.

On the first day, I introduced myself on call to Kush sir & he gave me my first task to collect newspapers & journal clippings in relation to the CoVID pandemic.

I collected & sent him the clippings in the afternoon. Afterwards I received a briefing note from sir via email & was asked to read it & attend the meeting along with the senior counsel.

I then attended the case briefing sessions & gained a practical insight into the practice aspect of how acts should be & can be applied to cases before the Supreme Court.

Main Tasks

1) Researched and prepared special leave petitions filed before the Supreme court of India;

2) Assisted in research for matters pertaining to election and environmental laws;

3) Attended online case hearings before the Hon’ble Supreme court of India;

4) Prepared case notes for briefing senior counsel in their briefing sessions; and

5) Assisted in preparing special leave petitions under Article 136.

Work Environment

It was a mostly online & partly offline at times.

Sir intimidated us to come to the office while files had to be prepared for arguments.

The office was a combined office of 4 AOR’s including Kush sir. The interns worked on the ground floor & were given a proper desk just like any other junior associate.

For printing, stationary & any technical help helping hands had been hired at the office.

An office canteen was on the ground floor & the interns could help themselves to a tea or coffee to de-stress themselves at times (the tea was sweet but strong).

The overall staff & working environment was good.

Good Things

Encouragement & feedback was given by Kush sir in person.

He was strict & thoughtful.

He taught us that in the legal profession quality work is relevant as well as all the minute details are examined & cross-examined by judges & counsels alike.

Bad Things

No bad things as such.

Details about accommodation and commute

Since it was an online internship I mostly stayed at home.

However at times I took a cab to the office as Rohini is quite far from Noida & commuting by metro was a little difficult.

Anything else?

Sir appreciated as well as encouraged working with sincerity & honesty.

He taught me that “bread & butter don’t come to the cheap.”
