How did I apply?
I got this internship through the application procedure. I sent my CV along with the cover letter to their E-mail – thukralandcompany[at]gmail.com. Within a span of 2-3 days, I got a call for a personal interview. I was asked to join in from the very next day itself.
First Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression
I was welcomed warmly by one of the Senior Associates of the firm, Adv. Kapil Kumar and was introduced to other associates and interns. Later on, I have explained the type of work I would be assigned, and the kind of work expected from me. On the very first day, I was given a consumer case to read and thereafter was asked to draft Counter/Reply for the same.
The office is within accessible reach of various means of transport and the nearest metro station is Paschim Vihar West. The office is spacious encompassing a waiting room, conference room, reception, and a comfortable work place for associates and interns. The case files are very systematically organized and comes in handy when required.
Initially, I was a bit nervous but after my first interaction with Adv. Karan Thukral I felt very motivated and was inspired by his achievements at this young age.
Over the span of my internship, I was given various tasks which included preparing synopsis and notes on various cases, drafting complaints, and written statement. I was taken to Court very frequently depending on the cases listed on that particular day. I visited District courts, Delhi High Court, and I also got the opportunity to visit the Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority and the Delhi state commission.
I observed the functioning of the courts which was a first-hand experience for me. One thing that proved to be advantageous was that I got an opportunity to witness online hearings sitting in the office premises itself. I was also taught how to file a case in the High Court and inspect a file on judicial record. I learned E-filing in various tribunals, the district court, online complaint filing, etc.
Work Environment, People
The work environment is quite warm and the associates very helpful. Everybody works as a team and is supportive of each other. If you work efficiently and give outputs, you are given due appreciation for your efforts, and your work is recognized. Overall the work environment is very positive and everyone in the office is very congenial to work with.
The amount of readings that are assigned to the interns is quite enriching. Also, the numerous times tea was served everyday proved to be a perfect refreshment during the working hours.
Overall it was indeed an outstanding and enriching experience. The internship training provided during this period made me realize the difficulties faced in this profession and encouraged me to work effectively and efficiently for future purposes as well. Through my internship experience, I got to learn about the practical application of law which will definitely prove to be an asset for any law student who wishes to pursue litigation.
Although there is no such bad thing about the office, however, parking issues prove to be a little troublesome at times.
