First day formalities
We were introduced to all the other associates and Mr Shubham guides all the interns. He told about the office, the rules and the working hours etc.
Main tasks
We were given files to read regarding the cases that were lined up for the next day. After reading them, we used to attend the court proceedings and this enabled us to better understand the case as we were well-versed with the facts. Then we were taught how to file a case and also how different courts work.
This internship shall expose you to a variety of Civil and Constitutional law Cases. You get to see how the Court proceeds and also see how different Judicial Bodies function. I was fortunate to have visited Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) along with The High Court of M.P where I was apprised of how the courts function, how cases are allotted and how tedious the job is considering there is so much of reasoning involved and you have to constantly run here and there and still be at your level best and work for your client.
We were told beforehand about the cases that were to be listed in the coming week and we read the case files so that there is much more clarity while we hear our seniors arguing in the Court. Siddharth Sir Keeps assigning a lot of research work which expands your horizon as you read so much, comprehend it and the knowledge just keeps flowing.
The amount of work allotted depends on how much curious you are and the efforts you put in. Other people at the office are also very humble and the Library is enriching and has all the books that an intern might need. Also, because sir has an office in Delhi as well and handles a lot of cases in The Delhi High Court, therefore you also get the exposure which one might get if interning outside as sir keeps sharing his experience and this inspires you to be the best version of yourself.
Good things
Working under Sir, you get to do a lot of Research work on a variety of subject matter and this hones your researching skills.
Bad Things
None.
Stipend
I was provided with Rs.5000. The stipend might vary with the amount of work you are allotted and how dedicated you are towards your work.
Location
The office is situated very close to the M.P High Court as well as CAT. Also, there are good eating places around the office to kill your cravings. Finding hostels near the office is also easy as most of them are situated in Sadar (Particular area in Jabalpur).
Work Place
1. The Office is spacious and separate cells are made for every associate.
2. All the associates were very supportive and active.
3. Sir is very cooperative with the interns regarding their timings and is really helpful when it comes to looking for accommodation.
Transport
There are many good facilities here such as Rickshaws, Autos and Buses. OLA Autos are 24×7 available which are cheap in rate.
Food
Tiffin system is fully active and the food is also very hygienic and good. (Contact No.: 9827581256). Zomato is active in the city so ordering food is never a problem. Also, in Sadar you have all the famous outlets and Indian Coffee House has 4 branches here.
