Duration of internship and timings

I was about to intern for one complete month, but due to certain reasons, it happened to be from 17th November 15 to 29th November 15

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

Initially you are introduced to the idea of SOS, its director and will be introduced to your supervisor.

You will be briefed about the work and their expectations.

Its an NGO so obviously, you won’t find great infrastructure there, but whatever is available is decent and doable.

Main tasks

Teach 11th and 12th children subjects like Accounts and Economics. Clear their queries.

Prepare a study plan for them, give questions, homework and check it too.

Career counselling and motivation.

Work environment and people

Open space and okayish location.

The supervisor is very cooperative and always supporting.

Infact because I did not get a cab to go back after the internship once, she herself dropped me to my place.

The people are good too, you get a free space to work and almost null interference.

What else should one expect, Ah?

Best things

The feeling of being able to give to the society.

The freedom to work and no interference.

The nature of immediately supervisor. She was very supportive and open. She will treat you as her child. Her name is Meera Ma’am.

Also the dedication of the children to learn was impressive and motivating.

Bad things

The infrastructure can certainly be a problem. After all it’s an NGO and you won’t get anything awesome here!

Limited range or choice of work.

Timings if children there have their schools during those days.

No stipend.

Biggest Lessons

The art of giving. I was the city topper in Economics . However when actually I taught this subject to them and cleared their queries, I realised how different it was to know a thing and to be able to convey it as it is to some other person.

Office Timings

Timings are very relaxed. I chose from 3 pm to 8 pm because that was the only time when children were available and because I had to teach them, what would I do if they were themselves not present .
