First impression, first day formalities, Infrastructure

First day, we had a small meeting with Mr. Ashish Lakhtakia, Company Secretary & Head – Legal and Compliance and Mr. Amol Anaokar, Legal at RNLIC. Afterwards we did our remaining formalities and Mr. Amol sir has introduced us with rest of the team of legal department.

He asked us to submit our Passport size photos and any KYC document.

They provided us separate computers for work and briefed about us various assignments. And as far as infrastructure is concern, it is excellent and everything is well furnished.

Main tasks

On 1st day itself, they have allotted us work pertaining to various agreements of the company with other service providers and asked us to submit a brief notes on those agreements.

Later on, they have given us various cases/suits of the company and we were asked to prepare case analysis on those maters and to present those cases as well.

I dealt with various cases pertaining to fraud, miss selling of policies etc and even studied different acts such as Insurance Act, 1938, IRDA Act, 1999, Broker Regulations, 2002, Limitation Act, 1963, Indian Contract Act, 1872, The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

We have also gone through the various complaints related to death claims. This company also had one important assignment which was Contract Record Management, in which we have studied various life insurance policies and contracts of company with different service providers.

We have even drafted a reply for RTI compliant.

Work environment and people

Work Environment is good having almost all necessary facilities like huge mess hall, free coffee/tea, and internet facility and well furnished compartments.

Employees over there are very friendly and supportive, except few.

Good things

Working with this company gives you a good exposure and flavor of corporate companies. Studying various agreements/cases, working with different people, gives you a general idea that how legal department in any multinational company works.

Officials are always there to clear any doubts. So overall it is good to work here and its helps to get the flavor of corporate life.

Bad things

During the process of applying in this company you have to follow up with them almost every day because if you will not follow up them there might a chance that u would not get any response from the company.

Yes, Stipend is there. It is 9000.

Biggest Lessons

Learned about various practical aspects but to work in any corporate company is not easy and if they are offering you good perks, then you should know how to do overtime.

Overall Rating

8 out of 10

I was not a Local there and I did face difficulty in finding PGs or hostels but fortunately I could able to find one flat near the office but it was too costly, around 20,000 for one month.

So if you are planning to apply there in a city like Mumbai, so in my opinion you should arrange proper accommodation facility for yourself first.
