The minimum period for which one has to intern is just 15 days. It is only Monday-Friday. You need to report at the workplace at 9:30 am and you are officially permitted to leave at 6:30 pm. However, if you don’t have much to do , you can leave at 4 or 4:30 pm.

They generally have less work in the month of June and a few lawyers in the office but one shall definitely opt for it as Rajan Sir will not let you sit idle.

How big was the office? Team strength?

The office shall be located at the first floor of Jeevan Vihar Building, Parliament Street. It is big enough and is equipped with a good library containing so many Supreme Court Reports and All India Reporters which are definitely worth an arm and a leg.

There are two small conference rooms, a big one, a lunch room and a few chambers. They generally accommodate 25-30 interns at a time , all of them supervised by Mr. Rajan Narain (The head of the office and the one who takes the telephonic interview).

Application procedure. Internship contact details

You shall apply to Mr Rajan Narain at his email ID He may reply in a day or two.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

Boys will have to wander around a little but for girls there is a guest house run by one Shabnam, you may find her contact no. and description in the firm’s profile and instructions which shall be mailed to you once you are selected for the internship.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

If Rajan Narain Sir is not in the office, he calls up at the office phone to talk to the new interns and will assign you work ,then and there. I got a 40 pages file on the very first day to read , find a topic from it and then was asked to research on it and submit my research.

But thanks to the Almighty that you may take your time to complete your task i.e. 2-3 days. The workplace is occupied by people who are soft-spoken and helpful.

Main tasks

You may have to research on different legal issues and submit your research. You can visit the Supreme Court (Vacational Bench is Open for Hearing in June), High Court and the Patiala House Courts.

Drafting work is quite less but sometimes you may be asked to draft Public Interest Litigations which is quite engrossing.

You may also have the opportunity to read all the case files of big MNCs. They generally deal with consumer, taxation, civil and constitutional cases.

Work environment, people

Work environment at the office of Mr. Rajan Narain is pretty good. Rooms are air-conditioned. There are computers in the office equipped with the internet. Fellow interns and lawyers are very helpful. You may have coffee and popcorn.

Best things

You can read all the high profile cases. The huge library. You get an opportunity to interact with interns who come from different law colleges spread throughout the nation including the NLUs.

Bad things?

Sometimes you may have to dig deeper to find work when Rajan Narain Sir is not present.

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

You can have something good to eat nearby the building only but trust me you don’ have to rush to the Kerala House unless you are a South Indian. At least for me, the vegetarian food there didn’t stand at my expectations.

Anything else you’d like to tell; Biggest lessons

Working at a law firm is definitely a must for law students in their 2nd or 3rd year. The whole perspective changes. You get to learn a lot.
