Internship Experience @ Nehru and Co., Pune: Good Work on a Variety of Laws

Name of law firm: Nehru and Co., Senapati Bapat Road

Location: Pune

Application Process: One can apply directly by sending their resumes at

Accomodation: I live in Pune so it wasn’t a problem. However , you can easily find accommodation (PG’s and Hostel) near SB Road especially Hanuman Nagar and Gokhale Nagar which is 10 minutes walking from SB Road.

Duration: The duration is generally from Monday to Friday 10:30 to 6:30. However only in certain cases you can be asked to stay longer .

Team Strength: 4-5 associates and 2 partners

Duration: 4 weeks , Actual working hours are from 10:30 am-6:30 pm

First Impression: This a small law firm but you can see all the associates busy with their work. On the first day I was inducted by the partner himself, Mr Amol Nehru.

He told me about the firm and gave me research work on dowry death case. Further I was asked to work on criminal law as well. The first impression of the law firm is really good. It is basically a family based law firm and hence it is really gentle to the interns.

Main Tasks: The tasks ranged from finding case laws to actually making arguments for the same. Sometimes it also involved the task of reading the cases and making summaries for the associates.

I also had the opportunity of dealing with NGT cases under one of the associates and helped in finding cases and brainstorming for arguments.

Since Nehru and Co.  is a full service law firm so I actually got to deal with many areas of law. Personally I dealt with environment law, constitution, company law, criminal procedure and intellectual property rights.

Work Environment and People: I believe that Nehru and Co. was my 1st law firm internship and I am grateful that I had incredible associates to work under. It was a very friendly environment without much stress and deadlines.

Best Things: The best thing is that you can make as many teas and coffees as you want. For lunches people generally order food from eateries nearby like mast kalandar, faasos, eatsome etc.

Also right opposite to the office there are amazing sandwich places. Apart from food the work at Nehru and Co. is good and you feel like being a part of the law firm.

Bad Thing: I really can’t recall anything bad about the law firm. Apart from the fact that they do not pay any stipend .

Biggest Lesson: Okay the lesson that I learnt was if you want to learn something then get up and ask for work or else you can sit and laze around.

Also it will be a good internship especially for those in 2nd and 3 rd year.
