Application Process

You need to apply to

Once the internship is confirmed you will receive a mail regarding the duration of the internship. However you need to apply well in advance as they have limited slots for interns at a time.

Duration of Internship and Timings

4 weeks. 2nd July 2018- 27th July 2018.

Monday to Saturday: 10.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m. However, on most of the days I stayed back till 7:30 pm.

However, on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays, the office remains closed.

First Impression, First Day Formalities, Infrastructure

I had to report by 10.00 a.m, after which I had to meet Mr. Somnath Sengupta , who is the Senior Manager HR.

After a brief introduction he allotted me my team.

They are quite strict about dress and the interns had to adhere to wear formals except on Saturdays.

The office is spread across three floors. The library has a decent collection of books and meets your needs effectively.

Main Tasks

The kind of work assigned to interns completely depends on the senior under whom he or she is assigned. Moreover, one is at liberty to take work from others as well apart from the senior one is allotted to.

I had the opportunity to research on various aspects as well as to draft applications for opposing a trademark applications, reply to examination report for trademark applications, filing of new trademark applications & filing counter-statements to trademark applications to name a few.

I was also asked to prepare synopsis of the cases that were assigned to me. I had to go to  the High Court at Calcutta and National Company Law Tribunal regularly to learn the procedure of working of such courts and tribunals & to see cases for which I had carried out research or prepared the synopsis .

Work Environment, People

Everyone in office is really helpful.

A special mention goes out to Mr. Saptarshi Mandal (Saptarshi Da) who has been immensely supportive throughout my stint and took cognisance of every small cribbing I made to him always.

Also, Ms. Rusha Saha Ma’am (under whom I got to work the most) necessarily asks questions regarding the work assigned. Hence it’s quite an engaging procedure. She also explained things whenever required and ensured that I learn something new in the course of the internship.

However there is no dearth for work and you will keep getting work as and when the previous one is completed.

Good Things

The amount of readings that are assigned to the interns is quite enriching. Also, the numerous times tea and coffee that is served everyday is a perfect refreshment after a tiring day of work.

Overall it was indeed a very good and enriching experience. It in spite of being a tier-I firm gives a really good opportunity to those who are looking forward to learn and make the most out of such internships.

Bad things

No such bad things that I noticed.
