About the firm and Team Strength
Kaden Boriss is a legal advisory firm with its base in India, Australia and Dubai. Hemant Batra Sir is the founder and senior partner. The firm attracts a lot of work in areas related to M&A and Real Estate along with work from its Dubai office.
There are 4 senior partners and one associate in the Gurgaon office. An intern can learn a lot through the research work opportunities provided in the firm.
First Day Impression
The office is not huge but quite spacious. There are offices of each partner and work stations for every intern. There is a separate conference room for meetings and presentations. The set up is warm and welcoming.
I was given a brief introduction of the work I was expected to do by the associate Nikita Maám. She supervises all the work given to interns. Everyone dresses in formals including the interns. Although the job is mainly desktop research the dressing code is strictly followed.
I was asked to do lot of research on corporate and contract laws. A lot of queries come in everyday and Nikita Maám distributes it amongst the interns.
I did majority work on M&A laws and IPR. Pulling out judgments, looking for latest amendments and notifications of FEMA/SEBI/RBI etc were part of the research work. There were queries related to Public International Law too while I worked. I also assisted in drafting a will for a UAE client. Small explanatory notes had to be written regarding the research work you were assigned.
They also ask interns to submit atleast two articles on any subject and during my internship one of them was published. Every intern has to give a presentation on their choice of topic and I gave one on ‘Importance of Due Diligence’. Every partner attends the presentation and it has been one of the most fruitful experiences of my internship as you learn a lot through the input given by partners during the Q&A round.
Kaden Boriss has been a delightful experience and as it was my first internship I got very attached to the firm. The partners and associates are very friendly and always teach you new things. All of them are so approachable and make you think out of the box for solutions.
Nikita Maám is the best supervisor an intern can ask for. She guides your work and makes you understand the nuances of corporate laws. Hemant sir also interacts with the interns a lot. He makes sure he has personal interaction with every intern atleast once.
Overall the firm has a very friendly and warm work environment, not seen in law firms usually.
You learn a lot through the variety in queries the firm gets.
Partners and staff members are so friendly that you’d want to work extra hours.
The timings are strictly followed and every intern leaves by 5 pm.
You don’t get overloaded with work but you don’t even have to wait for work. There are constant queries pouring in.
It is a strict desktop job so not for people who are intending to learn drafting etc.
There are no Court visits or reading case files.
It is performance based and I received Rs. 2500/-
Kaden Boriss provides a great internship experience and I definitely would try to intern again there.
