Internship Experience @ Jyoti Sagar Associates, New Delhi: Stipend of Rs. 4500, Research Work on Contract Act and Taxation Laws
Your Name, College, Year of Study, Email ID
Ayush Choudhary
Name of Organisation, Location city, Team Strength
Jyoti Sagar Associates, New Delhi
Application Process
I applied through a contact because JSA being such a big firm does not take interns unless they’ve completed 3rd year.
Duration of internship and timings
2nd June – 20th June, 2014. 3 weeks.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The Delhi office of JSA covers almost an entire floor of the Ansal Plaza Mall. It is a huge office which is beautifully maintained.
First day formalities included filling of a personal detail form and an introductory session with some associates.
Main tasks
There was very little work at that point of time but main tasks included basic research work on various topics like Contract Act, Taxation Laws etc.
Work environment and people
The work environment was very cool, the interns were supposed to sit in a separate room and associates who wanted some work done used to call us through an intercom, so interns not interested to work could just avoid the phone call and just do nothing.
Best things
The best thing about this internship was the weekly free costa coffee coupons we got exclusive of our stipend.
Double chocolate muffins were to die for.
Bad things
The only bad thing was the compulsion to stay in the office till 5 despite having no work.
Stipend
Rs. 4500
Biggest Lessons
Never say No to work and do all work assigned by the associates with due diligence.
Any Other Thing
Interning at such a big firm at an initial stage in your legal career is not a very good idea, even though it adds a shining feather to your CV, people at such places are just too busy to be able to take out time and teach you stuff.
