Duration of internship and timings

23rd August 2014 to 23rd September 2014

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The first impression was far more better than expected. It is small law firm with sufficient infrastructure.

However, there are no as such first day formalities. I was introduced to both the partners and the associate. Then the associate briefed me about the facts of a case he was working upon and asked me to do a research.

There were 6 other interns except me, who helped me a lot on everything.

Rest all for very good. I was familiar with all of the staff within no time.

Main tasks

The firm specializes in DRT matters, so everything revolved around SARFAESI Act and RDDBFI Act.

I further drafted Original Applications, Interim Applications, Affidavits in Support to the Original Application and to the Interim Application, Application for Issuance of Summons, List of Documents, Precipes, All other Misc. Proceedings that are required to be filed in the DRT at the time of initiation of proceedings.

Plus, conducted research work Researched on Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institution Act, 1993, Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act 2002 and Code of Civil Procedure.

Work environment and people

The work environment is normal. Though they take their work very seriously, but all work and no play is not their policy.

The associates and the partners are very friendly in nature.  I never felt like an intern under their guidance as they always treated us as a part of their family.

So you can approach them any time with any difficulty and they will always be ready to help you out even with your silliest queries.

Best things

The best thing about this firm is that every person in the firm treats you very nicely.

I have heard many stories from my friends about their associates and senior partners grilling them during their internship, which thankfully I haven’t experienced here.

As stated above, they would never overburden you with work however they emphasize on the quality of the work.

The overall experience was amazing, enriching and encouraging.

Bad things

Nothing Bad.

No Stipend

Biggest Lessons

The biggest lesson I learnt here is that no work is small or big, its your willingness and your persistent nature that will be assessed.

They won’t judge you upon your percentile but quality in your work (repeating again- honesty and sincerity).

Any Other Thing

To be very frank, I was skeptical about how the internship will be at this firm, because it is a recent firm. But after completing my internship, I can seriously say that I was proved wrong.

Though it’s a small firm, but its only at such firms that you can gain true knowledge. It was one of my most productive internships and I would recommend this firm to those who are willing to learn.
