Timings were 9:30 to 6:00 (plus two hours if there was any work to be completed urgently)
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
As soon as I entered the office, there was the lobby and to my left was the library, as the seniors were busy in a meeting then, I visited the library and was amazed by the library, it was filled with books from the floor to the ceiling and also had a lot of journals/magazines on criminal law.
The firm specializes in Criminal Law and I was assisting two seniors with their matters in the Gujarat High Court as well as the Ahmedabad District and Session’s Court.
My main tasks involved research on case laws, statutes, provisions related to CrPC/IPC and the Evidence Act.
My other tasks included drafting various applications like bail applications, etc.
Work environment and people
The people there were very supportive and were constantly helping me out if I asked them to explain a provision or procedure.
The work environment there was very calm and there was a lot of interacting with the seniors.
Also, there was a vending machine for Tea/Coffee and we always had cookies etc. for snacks.
I learnt the ways in which the various courts function and the procedure to be followed in the courts.
Also, I learnt a lot about criminal law which helped me in my next semester in which I had Law of Criminal Procedure.
