First day formalities
On the first day of internship there was orientation for the new interns that was done by the head of CRY Delhi, Miss Sweta Bhattacharjee. We were told about the motive of CRY and how it works and also what is child Rights according to CRY. Then we were asked to give our preference for the work project that we will be comfortable with.
Next, different projects were allotted to everyone and teams were formed. Every team was provided with a mentor who was a CRY employee and each and every intern was required to submit it’s daily report via mail to the team mentor.
I was given the Tigri project in south Delhi under the NGO Matrisudha. I along with my teammates went to Matrisudha head office located at Nardana village. At Matrisudha office we were told about the motive and aim of Matrisudha and how it works. We were also taken for a visit to the sites and different Anganwadi centers were allotted to us.
We used to visit the Anganwadi centers daily at 10AM and examine the working of Anganwadi centers and check weather they are functioning properly and what are the problems that they are facing and what are the problems faced by children coming there.
In the second half of the day we had to go to the V. P. Singh camp located near to the office and there our work was to teach children and we also carried out a program in which we collected information about the problem related to drinking water that people living there are facing and also tried to create awareness regarding cleanliness.
The other work done was to collect data by going house to house and asking about the condition of lactating mothers and new born children.
It is a really good place to do your first internship as people here are really supportive and always listen to you. Also what it teaches is a work culture that is very important for everyone.
