Duration of Internship and timing

10 May 2018 to 3 June 2018. I had to reach the office by 10 AM and called my day off usually between 6-7.

I worked 6 days a week.

First impression, first day formalities

CorpLit Consultants is a law firm founded by Adv. S.P.Singh Chawla Sir, under whom I had my Internship. I had to submit a form with my personal details and the specific details of my internship like the duration. On my First day I was made familiar with the basics of drafting and editing an application. I was exposed to drafting notices under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

The office space is quite good with computers and WiFi only for work purposes.

Main Task

Majority of my work was concerned with drafting notices under Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. I prepared list of dates, synopsis, index and assisted sir in drafting demand notices. I was also given some research work. I assisted sir in drafting various writ petitions. I dealt with several interesting cases dealing with loans, dishonour of cheque, non payment, initiation of insolvency proceedings etc.

I was taught even the minute things like the process of Filing and how to arrange the documents in a proper order and all the other things that we need to take care.

I had several visits to National Company Law tribunal and High Court of Delhi and got an opportunity to listen to the proceedings of some interesting cases like removal of Directors by the ROC and many others.

I also got Opportunity to attend a class room series on court craft and how to present oneself in NCLT and NCLAT  (Practice and Procedures) organised by ICSI. It was a very enriching experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is really positive. The staff is nice and friendly.

Best things

The best thing during the Internship was observing the courtroom proceedings in the Delhi High court and National Company Law Tribunal and Drafting too many Petitions.

Secondly, Sir used to give lot of advise that were very useful for academic as well as professional aspects, and also answered all my queries with patience. I was quite nervous in the beginning, as this was my first internship but towards the end I was more confident and ready to face further challenges.

Biggest Lesson

Internships can be a Lot of fun if we take it as an opportunity to learn and not as a compulsory task to do in the vacations.

Try to do various type of internships and then decide what you want to do in your career.

If you want to learn then this is the place where you should aspire to intern. The work place is good. You will get good amount of work everyday, and will also get a chance to visit courts.

Thank you.
