Application Process with contact details
SIMPLEST – Just a Letter of Recommendation from your college and copy of I-card, it would be enough for applying here in SCRDC.
But every detail must be properly mentioned in Letter of Recommendation especially about duration of Internship, duly attested and signed by the competent authorities.
Duration of internship and timings
1st July, 2016 – 28th July, 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
It was quite comfortable since we had a group of 10 students from our institute itself.
There were common formalities like wearing formals and carrying a notepad every time.
It was a well built Forum with 3 floors so the continous running up and down the stairs was pretty tiring
Main tasks were to observe the hearing of the cases in all the Consumer Forums i.e. District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum I, District Consumer Resdressal forum-II and State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commision.
We need to note down the observations and then be prepared for the questions by the respected Judge who further answers to any queries regarding the case.
Work environment and people
I think you already must have got the hint about the work environment here. It is awesome!
Just couples of hours you have to work & then you are free. It is somewhat where one can say that learn while you fun.
But it must be understood that while working during those few hours, you must be attentive, punctual and must show keen enthusiasm to learn because environment is something which all factors jointly create and interns are also a factor.
The unique and interesting feature is that the bench is quite cooperative, intern friendly and even Sir is easily approachable. His Lordship actively participates in the question answer sessions with interns.
Best things were to learn about the Consumer Dispute Redressal Commissions procedure by heart and interacting with the Advocates which let us widen our knowledge and opened more internship opportunities.
At times when the Judge used to scold advocates that was the time to laugh out loud.
No, there was no bad thing.
But instead of that valuable practical knowledge, skills like quick catching power, decisive power etc. can be developed while interning here.
However a Certificate of Appreciation with regard to your internship is given by SCRDC to all interns.
Also, an intern has an opportunity to learn from Advocates / Lawyers, who plead in the court room and can make new contacts with them which can be helpful for life time. So, 3000 – 4000 bucks are nothing!
It was my first Internship so I learnt many lessons like how to behave in a formal environment. The way to present yourself in front of a Judge and talk to Advocates.
Any Other Thing
Students of 1st year can do internship here because its a quasi-judicial institution. Hence they would feel comfortable as an intern for the first time and can earn experience for upcoming internships.
However, SCRDC can also organise educational trips to High Courts and other institutions of law during the period of internship.
Therefore , I would recommend all 1st year students to come here and learn. Experience something new, you had never before!
No problem! There are a lot of P.G. services for Boys & Girls near SCRDC in Sec 19 and Sec 7.
One can avail their services as per his or her budget. Well the estimated rent for 1 month is 4000 – 5000 rupees.
The working hours are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm including one hour for lunch time. But Interns used to finish their daily assignment and notes writing work by 2:00 pm as everyone used to cooperate each other in preparing all these.
