Internship Experience @ Vaish Associates, Mumbai: Variety of Cases, Research and Drafting Work, Weekly Knowledge Sessions

Name, College and Year

Swachita Ravi, ILS Law College, Pune, Final year student of Three year Law course.

I had my first corporate internship at Vaish Associates, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

Type of work

The great thing about Vaish Associates is that you’re never without work. Unlike other firms, even first-time interns are given serious work.

They never discriminate and usually, you are assigned in-depth research work or drafting or giving your opinion about a certain issue. The associates are always ready to help in case you have any queries.

Interns required: They have no set limit of interns required, though usually there are at least 3-4 interns during a period.

Location: Their Mumbai office is located in Parel East, right behind the Income Tax office. Their office is on the First Floor of Peninsula Centre and it’s close to Mint Colony Monorail Station.

Application Process

Any law student can apply for an internship with them. Applications along with a resume must be sent to Mr. Hemant Puthran (hemant[at] who is the HR Partner.

Rs. 5000/-

They usually prefer internships ranging from one month – three months. Minimum at least a month, which was the duration of my internship.

I have learnt the most in this internship. I had friends complaining that they were only getting clerical or basic research work to do at their internships whereas here, I got to do in-depth research, got to draft and also got the opportunity to learn about various issues in the law that I wasn’t aware of before.

The associates are always available to help. There isn’t usually a time where you are without work, once you send a free to work email, the phone is usually ringing off the hook.

Also, due to weekly knowledge sessions where recent judgements are presented, you get to stay updated and also a monthly knowledge session is held where a presentation is made on queries the firm usually gets from clients regarding a specific topic and the answers to it are researched and discussed.

Anything else, what you did to chill out, lessons learnt etc

For a break usually, you can go down, have a walk, grab some chai if you need. The area outside the office is usually filled with food stalls so finding a place to chill is not hard.

Overall, I think every law student should intern with Vaish once. I will definitely try to get an internship here again. They have offices in Delhi and Bangalore also so students can try any of the offices.
