How did you Apply?

I got to know about Sync Legal via Lawsikho and after being shortlisted from Lawsikho’s placement team, I got a call from Sync Legal’s Associate Siddharth Sir who informed me that I would be getting a call from the Managing Partner, Prakhar Dixit Sir for a brief interview. Subsequently, I cleared the interview and was asked to join the firm from July 6, 2020, for a period of 2 months.

First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

Since it was a virtual internship, I never visited the law firm in person. I was informed that all communications will be via Zoom Calls, WhatsApp, Phone Calls, or Emails.

On the first day, a call was arranged with Prakhar Sir along with the Associate Siddharth Sir and other Interns of Sync Legal. Prakhar Sir introduced me to the team and briefed me about the firm and also about the work that Sync Legal was currently doing.

Main Tasks

Through Sync Legal I got an opportunity to assist and co-ordinate in the country’s first-ever E-Lok Adalat for the state of Delhi and Rajasthan which was an excellent opportunity to learn about the working of an E-Lok Adalat from start to end i.e. from taking consents of the parties to taking their E-signatures for the awards. I also assisted Prakhar Sir in drafting a legal notice relating to a partnership dispute.

Further, I assisted in researching on the Arbitration Act, 1996. I also assisted in researching and preparing a presentation on “Startups in India”, which was presented by Prakhar Sir in a webinar.

Good Things

Since it was a virtual internship, Prakhar Sir always made sure to have regular Zoom calls on a daily basis to get an update of the work that was going on. He also made sure that we always had some work to do. He was always cordial and patient with the interns and very approachable as well.

Bad Things

There were no bad things. Prakhar Sir made sure that everyone had an equal amount of work and that no one was overburdened with work.

No Stipend.

Accommodation, commuting to the office.

None, since it was a virtual internship.

Anything else, what you did to chill out, lessons learnt, etc

Working with Prakhar Sir and Sync Legal was an enriching experience for me. Prakhar Sir and also the Sync Legal Associate Siddharth Sir always made the interns comfortable in the way the work was carried out. They were always approachable and were available on calls in case of any queries.

Also, the whole team sometimes played online games after work for some team bonding which was a fun experience. Overall, it was a good learning experience and I am thankful to Prakhar Sir for giving me the opportunity to work with his firm.
