How did you apply for the internship?

I applied for the internship by emailing my curriculum vitae & statement of purpose to Shashank sir at shashank@tandonanco.com

Though one should always mail all details to the Managing Partner Kunal Sir at kunal@tandonandco.com as a habitual practice. The mode of internship was online.

First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

Since, it was an online internship, on the first day, I was required to send a mail to all the associates introducing myself as an intern with the firm.

All formal communications were done preferably through mail or WhatsApp.

I was assigned to Hita ma’am where she introduced herself & gave me a brief idea about my duties & responsibilities as the sole intern for the month.

Main Tasks

Main task assigned to me was to research & find the relevant judgments of Supreme Court & of various high courts, district courts & go through them.

I used to highlight them & even prepared a brief research note about the relevancy of each judgment’s relevant paragraphs.

My seniors forwarded me the mail propositions & in case of any query I found I could always reach out to them through mail or WhatsApp and they promptly replied back to help me out.

The office culture focuses on teaching & incorporating the essential qualities of researching & drafting.

The majority of cases that I researched on were related to banking laws, trademarks law, family law, criminal & corporate law.

Work Environment

I was encouraged at all times by the associates & was kept continuously occupied with different research assignments.

The seniors were strict with the submission deadline of each research.

However, not more than 2 research assignments were given & everyone inquired before handing over any other task that whether no other work was being handled of any partner or associate.

I was encouraged to perform like an associate & give complete work. I learned about enhancing my research efficiency through cataloging my research propositions.

Good Things

The associates & interns were given due credit & reprimanded for mistakes alike, hence the intern was not allowed to “stretch his legs” & all the associates & partners gave a lot of research.

Thus there were major learning in areas like  IBC, trademark law, IPC & company law, amongst others.

You learnt to handle pressure & create a work – life balance.

Bad Things

Nothing bad if the intern was willing to learn & work.

Stipend

None

Details about accommodation and commute

Since it was an online internship, the whole internship was work from home.

The office address is X-3, Green Park Main, New Delhi, Delhi 110016 & the nearest metro station is “Green Park” on the Yellow Line.

I live in Rohini so it would be a one hour journey by metro & a 5 minute walk from the station.

Anything else?

I learnt from Kunal sir’s actions & realized that “actions speak louder than words” which is especially true for lawyers.

Since their sincerity & consistency towards the profession commands respect amongst his juniors, peers & seniors.
