First Impression, First Day Formalities, Infrastructure

JLJ Law Offices is a well-furnished and renowned law firm in New Delhi for its expertise in the field of Corporate and Commercial Litigation. There is a decent collection of books and databases to assist in the research work.

The partners have different chambers, whereas the interns and associates share a common working area. On the very first day, Mr. Manish Jain- the Managing Partner of JLJ Law Offices called me to meet him personally and give my introduction.

After that day, he himself assigned me the work to research extensively on Cybercrimes. From the first day itself I came to know that he is a very dynamic, approachable and supportive personality.

I still remember the lessons given by him on the first day through his years of experience and expertise which will be with me
throughout my lifetime.

Main Tasks

The working environment in the office was really nice and interactive as we used to have discussions and arguments on various contemporary issues. But I was majorly assigned the task to research on Cybercrimes and prepare a report which will be presented before a cybercrime specialist and the whole law firm during last days of internship.

Along with this, I was also assigned to make case briefs of various Hon’ble Supreme Court and High Court Judgements and to research upon the issues that were present in various cases mainly relating to Companies Act, 2013 Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and SARFAESI Act, 2002.

At times, I was directed to draft complaints/notices and to visit Delhi High Court to assist the associates for proceedings.
As from the learning part, during my internship, I read and dealt with certain areas which were very new to me as a student of 3rd year.

However, I gained an overall exposure on Corporate and Commercial Litigation which the firm particularly expertise in.

Best Things

There were many positives and leanings as this was my 1st internship in a Corporate Litigation firm and in New Delhi too. The working environment is very supportive (like a family) as I never felt like I was a junior here. The interactions and discussions with the partners were the best things to appreciate.

Bad Things

No bad thing as such, it was a wonderful experience from a growing and learning point of view to intern at JLJ Law Offices.
