Main Tasks

Interns are mostly assigned research work which includes going through case laws, writing briefs and researching Acts.

Personally, the areas I dealt with during the course of my internship were concerned with three main legislations which were the Indian Succession Act, 1925, Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 and the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.

One is asked to report to the office at 10:30 am sharp. Thereafter, one is allotted a mentor and a workspace and assigned some work.

One becomes familiar with the office space and the people they are to work with. The first day is more of an orientation day where one is introduced to the new environment and given time to acclimatise to it.

Good things

The associates are extremely accommodating and patient with the interns. One should never hesitate to ask their seniors for help in case they have any queries.

There is a coffee machine present in the office which is available to all, employees and interns alike.

Bad things

The partners of the firm are burdened with an enormous amount of work and are kept very busy making it difficult to interact with them.

Lack of court experience.

Rs. 1000 per week.

One should never hesitate from asking for work and should try to build a healthy rapport with their seniors.
