I got the internship opportunity through Reference from my friend.
First Day Formalities Initial Impressions
On my first day, my friend introduced me to my senior Mr. K.Chandrasekaran Sir. He gradually started asking about me and my interests in law and he explained about his career.
The first day was simple I was asked to read the case file and take notes on the important points in the facts of the case which was posted for the next day. I was also provided with refreshments.
- Helping with the senior in drafting various documents including OA, SA, Counters, Reply Notice, letters, etc.
- Reading the case files and noting important points in the facts.
- Summarising the facts of the case and reproducing it in my own words and narrating it to him.
- Court hall visits.
- Learning about documentation and filing
My senior retired from his services in SBI as AGM and started practising in the field of banking law. So he is thorough with all the banking procedures and principles.
I was in my second year when I joined my internship so I lacked practical and legal knowledge on this area but he was patient enough to teach me from the basics even in his busy schedule. And the best thing about being in office was the enrichment of knowledge in current affairs and if time permits will have heated discussion on that topic.
And of course I will be provided with refreshment and if I stay late I will be provided with dinner. During my summer holidays, I got the chance to visit DRT, DRAT and NCLT and observe the court proceedings.
First I was intimidated by looking at the number of documents required for filing the case. But once I am aware of what each document is and why it is used it was easier to work.
No Stipend but reimbursement of costs expensed for the office tasks was done.
I travelled by MRTS -Sub Urban Train.
