First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression
On the first day of my internship, I was required to go to Saket Court where I witnessed proceedings of the Mediation Center and realized the importance of the same in a trial.
Later, I met Anurag Sir in office where I was given a brief orientation about his practice and his style of working. Sir also enlightened me on various skills required to be a successful litigating lawyer.
Further, the case management system being followed in his office is in parlance with utmost perfection.
Then I was introduced to the work which was allotted to me.
Since the firm deals in all type of matters, so I got an opportunity to draft and witness various types of cases in different Court.
I was given tasks to draft SLPs, Writ petitions, Bail applications, divorce petition, misc. applications, etc. Apart from that, there were multiple tasks allotted to an intern like finding the most suitable case laws, filing of cases, attending court proceedings and making notes of the cases.
There was never a time one could be free because the work was regularly allotted.
In the end, all I have to say is that if you are interested in litigation then this is a perfect place to intern.
At this firm along with legal subjects, you will be able to transform your personality as a lawyer. I had various interactive sessions with Anurag Sir and Nishant Sir which helped me a lot in developing my personality.
One thing that sir taught us which I will never forget is that Client Satisfaction should always be the ultimate goal. The client should always be satisfied with your work irrespective you win or lose, the client should not be able to point out any mistake in your work.
I also got an opportunity for the first time in my life to stand in front of Hon’ble judge and argue for an admission of a case.
Work environment and people
The work environment was very disciplined and organized. Sir is particular not only about the work but even the way it is done, the way everything is arranged at the office, the time for a given work etc.
My mentor Mr. Nishant Mittal used to guide and help me at every possible step. The environment is the best one should expect at a law office inclusive of all elements for an appropriate work environment.
We all used to have lunch together at the office which used to be a time when discussions apart from work took place.
Based on your performance and in my scenario I was getting 6k/month.
Anything else, what you did to chill out, lessons learnt etc
It’s not all about the knowledge of law but the appropriate application of the same at the right time and all these things you will learn from this firm.
