Application Process

I got this internship through my college. One can also email at basilica.lawfirm[at]gmail.com.

First Day Formalities Initial Impressions

On the first day my co-interns and I met Advocate Shobha Gupta and she assigned us different work. Later on, we were introduced to Joyshree mam who told us the rules needed to be followed during the internship which are as follows:

  1. The first thing is to wash hands with soap. Yes, cleanliness is supreme here.
  2. Complete the tasks on time as mam doesn’t assign work another work if an intern hasn’t finished his previous task.
  3. One must carry a blazer.
  4. Any book or file that goes to mam has to be given to the office boy so that he can clean it and then give it to mam.

Main Tasks

I had the opportunity to work on diverse areas of law. I began my research on IBC and by the end of the month I had researched on waqf act, Hindu Law, CPC, CrPC, service law, Maharashtra Co-operative societies act etc.

Interns were supposed to go to SC, HC, NGT and DRT as per the research work assigned to them. I even attended mediation proceedings and client counselling sessions.

Good Things

The best part about interning here is briefing. I learned so much from mam during such briefs. I got to learn not just the law but the little tricks and trade involved in litigation.

Interns had to be extremely careful in every word they spoke as she would counter-question and thus, brevity is the key. Drafting done by mam is impeccable as she not just explains the issue in a concise manner but also reflects the emotion of her clients through such draft.

The way mam put forwards her arguments in Court is something to be learned. She not only knows the law but even the judge. She is respectful and makes sure that the Judge listen to her even after he closes the file. At the end of the internship, I was more confident and contended to learn so much in the span of one month.

Bad Things

Although, I got the opportunity to draft, my co-interns were not allowed to draft. Consider yourself lucky if you are given drafting.

Sometimes interns had to do miscellaneous work which at a certain point of time became tedious.

Stipend

Rs. 5,500/-

Accommodation Commute

I stayed in PG at Kalkaji

Other Info

If you want to go for litigation then you should intern here. Moreover, do not enter the pantry or even call your friends at office in her absence.

This internship is not for fun rather it is a laborious Bootcamp for which you are assessed. The type of work and the quality of work you do shall be mentioned in the certificate and the same shall be handed over to you on the last date of internship along with a stipend.
