Internship Experience

The internship under an advocate during the college years acts as a balance of scale between theoretical knowledge & practical Experience. As a law student, we are  supposed to be well versed with the laws that a law school teaches us but we are not taught  about the actual pleadings that are submitted before the court. Only when we step down in the open field do we realize the importance of unspoken rules that are present in the Indian Judiciary.

During my initial years of law college I was informed by my college seniors about the various  aspects of working in a NGO, Human Rights Commission, Law Firm, and an individual advocate.

I was highly impressed by the various task that was given to them in their course of their internship. In my second year I started an internship in a firm called AMR Legal.  In said Law Firm, I was guided by my seniors MR. Ajit Rahate & Ms. Arshita Singh. The seniors  explained to me the objectives about the internship & gave a patient hearing to all my doubts &  queries.

Initially, I was given about some research about the topics including Serious Fraud  Investigation Office (SFIO), Transfer of Property Act, 1882. I was also given the task of  drafting plaints which was used before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court & also City Civil &  Sessions Court.

The main purpose behind such internship was to learn the drafting of the  pleadings, applications, affidavits, memo, petitions, Vakalatnama, agreements and court craft. The skills that I was taught during my internship has proved as a boon for me in understanding  the procedural aspects & laws that was taught to me in my later years of my law school.
