They are quite prompt and you may get a reply within 2-3 days. I applied in the month of July for an internship in the month of August. Also, just to be sure that they have taken cognizance of your application, send a reminder.

Duration of internship and timings

My Internship was from 1 st August to 31 st August, (1 month).

The duration is quite flexible and you may pick your own dates. It becomes a little bit crowded in June so it’s advisable to apply in April-May or August- September.

Mostly interns at Amicus Legal come from Jaipur itself. Timings were from 09:30 a.m. to 09:00 p.m. (for boys). Girls are allowed to leave the office between 07:00 p.m. – 08:00 p.m. because partners at the office personally take care of this kind of issues.

The Firm

First Day Formalities

The Amicus Legal office is located on the 3rd floor of Corporate Park at Gopalbari. I cannot call it to love at first sight. You will be sitting idle for a few hours on the first day soaking in the ambience.

My first day was the usual, I met the associates and the Partners on the first day itself. On day one, I was given a file to a brief, and then research on that file.

Main tasks

Work at Amicus Legal generally includes drafting, opinions, and advisory on Corporate Matters; and in all cases, you are given a lot of freedom, and in most cases, it is your work that will be used and showcased.

There is no dearth of work in the office. Work includes Drafting documents, Affidavits, Research on Companies Act, Taxation, Debt Recovery Laws, Bank Guarantee etc. The work is extremely fulfilling and a good effort is appreciated by the
concerned taskmaster.

You may even be asked to deal with a client first hand and escort that person through the required legal minefields. Sometimes you may also be tasked with filing RTI applications to government offices for research purposes.

Work environment and people

It is an extremely conducive working environment. No one is in a hurry ever but somehow they manage to get the work done accurately on time. No one is competing with each other to be in the spotlight but rather are working collectively for the firm’s benefit.

Best Things

Working under guidance and mentorship of an astonishing personality like Anurag Kalawatiya sir was the best part of the Internship.

Biggest Lessons

  1. A very cliched phrase, but hard work is the key to getting a pat on the back
  2. Always show eagerness to work
  3. No work is small (‘some of them are’)
  4. It’s important to look good and talk smartly, especially while dealing with

Other Information

I am from Jaipur itself so, I stayed at my own place. If you are an outsider, you can easily find PGs and hostels in Jaipur.
Do not settle for relative’s places/friend’s flats/dirt cheap options.

Always remember to carry something for lunch as there are no outlets nearby for food and you may have to travel 2-3 k.m. on either side for a bite. Whatever doubt you have just ask Annie, ma’am, she will sort out all of your doubts.
