First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression
Just as I reached the Chambers, I got to meet Surender Sir and Aditya Sir who welcomed me with warmth. I was further introduced to the staff of the chamber. Also, I was briefed about what kind of works will I be getting and also what all things I must learn.
Main tasks
The main tasks during the whole internship period were to read the case files, and also drafting certain affidavits. Apart from these, I also got to accompany Sir to the Court Hearings and watch how the courts function.
I gained some knowledge about the First Information Report, Recording of the Statements, the Documents annexed with the FIR, Post Mortem Report, Bail Application, Certified Copy of the Court Order, etc.
Also during the breaks, Sir made me understand how the law of our land works and also made me aware of the legal cliche herein our Nation.
As Surender Sir is a mediation lawyer as well, I used to accompany him to the Mediation Center where I got to take part as a mediator as well
Good things
Everyone in the chamber is quite humble. Interns get to have tea, snacks, and lunch with Sir during which he discusses cases and current and political issues with us. The best thing indubitably is the environment.
Bad things
None
Stipend
None
Accommodation Commute
My house is about a kilometre away from the Court so I had no difficulties in commuting. One may get PGs herein Panipat at cheap rates and commuting is fairly easy as well.
Other Info
The main lesson which I learned was that one must acquire practical knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge. There are things which one might not learn or understand if he doesn’t get practical knowledge.
