Duration of Internship

1 Month – (03rd December 2019 – 04th January 2020)

How did you apply?

As my father is also a lawyer (taxation lawyer), he knows lawyers in AHC. So one of my father’s friend took me to sir’s chamber where I met and applied.

First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

On my first day, when I went to sir’s chamber he was through next day’s cases. Firstly sir introduced me to advocates working under him. Then sir handed over me one file which will be taken over the next day in court. I was asked to brief down the case and note down the sections.

Then sir told me to report to ALLAHABAD HIGH COURT next day. The first-day impression was very positive. I was told to observe the proceedings in Chief Justice Court, where Justice Govind Mathur was taking up the case.

Main tasks

My internship generally included observing court proceedings and preparing a summary of the same and then going through the case files of the next day. Sometimes I was even asked about the facts of the case. There is a number of lawyers working under him so most of the times I was accompanied by Advocate Ravi Jha. Sir used to take me with him in his assigned courtrooms.

Good things

The working environment in the chamber was such that it forces you to work harder, positive and duty-bound. Sir and other advocates treat you like their own and assist you in every step. They even provide you with refreshments in every next second.

Nothing comes in front of you served in a bowl. To learn something new you have to ask for it. I utilized my whole day working with sir and others and learned what litigation is.

Bad things

As such, there weren’t any bad things.

No Stipend. But working under a cool senior advocate was a blessing.

Accommodation and Commuting

As, Allahabad is my hometown, so I stayed at my home. I don’t think there are any PGs near both the places but one can find hostels/PGs near Allahabad University.
