Duration of Internship and Time
My Duration of Internship is for 4 weeks starting from 23rd December, 2019. Usually, the candidates are accepted for internships for the duration of 4 or 6 weeks but if in case one wishes to extend their internship, prior approval is required from the Partner and Associates and is done on the basis of previous assignments allotted to the Interns.
The official timings of the office – 10:00 am to 7:30 pm and the office functions six days a week.
First Day Impression
On my first day of internship, I filled in my details in the Interns Register and afterwards was introduced to Ms. Aakriti Sood (IP Associate) who primarily is in charge of non-litigation vertical of the firm and works mostly in commercial agreement and IP cases and also manages all the Interns.
Later on, I was introduced to all the other Associates at the firm. My first assignment was given by Ms. Amal Kurian (Litigation Associate) who considered my interests in certain fields of law and allotted me the work accordingly. I was also asked to give a presentation in my last week by another Associate Mr. Deepanjan Dutta (Litigation Associate).
Such presentations are asked to be given on the topics covered in your assignments.
The main tasks which were allotted to me at the law firm were to research on various aspects of law in general since Aadhya Legal works on varied domains of law. Therefore, I was able to explore various types of cases and some of the important tasks which were allotted to me were- research on case laws in relation to the Consumer Protection Act.
I also researched on the concept of “Strict Product Liability” with an International overview and the new Amendment which
has been gazetted but not yet notified in India. I also observed various proceedings at DRT and Delhi High Court.
Best Part about my Internship
To start with one of the best things I had with the law firm was that to celebrate my birthday with them. The Associates gave a small surprise on my birthday. and also, I had an opportunity to go on firm’s Lunch at Pandara Road, Delhi.
Another good part about Aadhya legal’s team is that the associates are quite amicable in nature and will keep guiding you towards the right path. They fully address your doubts and help you with your internship assignments provided one is willing to equally work on themselves.
They taught certain topics to me from scratch since I was a second-year student and found difficulty in mostly analysing the issues pertaining to various propositions. The Managing Partner, Mr. Amit Tyagi Sir is very friendly with the interns and makes them understand their mistakes with such an ease which usually boosts their confidence to do a particular assignment under the law firm.
Furthermore, Aadhya Legal is an empathetic law firm where the Associates and the Managing Partner understands the real problem of the interns. This is that kind of a law firm which gives you the exposure of work without expecting anything from you.
I have stayed at my brother’s house in Gurgaon and usually commuted via Delhi Metro.
