First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

The first day starts with a brief orientation with the HR head who will acquaint you with all that you need to know about the firm. You will also be asked to sign a Non-disclosure agreement stating you understand that all the information received by you, directly or indirectly, during the course of your internship, with regards to the firm or its clients, is strictly private and confidential and shall in no manner be provided to any third party.

Once you’re done with all the preliminary formalities, you will be introduced to all the associates and you can dive right into work from thereon. Once you have submitted your work, feel free to go around and ask the associates for more work. You can also tell them what kind of work you would like to do and they will try to get you involved in matters that are in line with your interest area.

Main tasks

I worked with almost all the teams and hence, got some really good work. I mainly worked with the Transactional team (Entertainment and Corporate), and my main tasks included a lot of drafting and vetting of documents. The drafting exposure that I got at AAK was brilliant. I was also asked to assist various associates with case research on some really interesting points of research.

Good things

At the risk of sounding repetitive, the best thing about the firm for me was the kind of work that I got to do and the work culture. The Firm has a very warm and happy work environment. Everybody at AAK is very friendly and always willing to help. I remember there was this one time when Priyanka herself had given me some work, and I wasn’t quite sure how to go about it and I remember asking her and multiple associates various questions, all of which were answered patiently and in detail.

There have been times when I have called the associates on non-working days to clarify my doubts, and they would always take the time out and answer all my questions.

The firm has a discretionary stipend policy which is based on the performance of the intern. I received a stipend of INR 10,000/- per month.

Accommodation, commuting to office

I live in Bombay so I did not have to look for accommodation. However, there are a lot of hostels/PGs around South Bombay.

The office is very close to both Churchgate and CST stations. There are always share cabs available right outside the station that directly take you to Free Press Journal Marg.

Anything else, what you did to chill out, lessons learnt etc

The office is located in South Bombay which has some really nice restaurants. Also, there are multiple street food stalls along Free Press Journal Marg.

One thing that I take away from this internship is that there are no stupid questions. It is always better to clarify all your doubts before submitting anything. This way you save yours and the associate’s time.
