First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
He interviewed me about the areas of my interest in the field law and the reason why I chose law as a career.
There were no formalities as such.
The infrastructure is pretty good, he has a very good library.
Main tasks
I had to visit courts with sir and had to prepare notes of the proceedings. I also visited RTI Courts and represented in one of the matters on behalf of the client. While in his chamber I had to research on several areas relating to Right To Information Act, 2005, arrest under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
He then gave me drafting, I had to draft legal notice, RTI Applications, Affidavits, Agreements etc. He also gave me his case files of which I had to prepare the list of dates and the brief of the daily proceedings.
The best task was attending the meetings with the clients, where I was to told to sit back and listen and observe. Some of the tasks also involved clerical works, such as doing xerox, compiling files etc.
Work Environment and People
Well, the work environment seemed boring sometimes as I was the only intern, but sir used to interact a lot about law and he gave me a lot of work, so I was engaged most of the times. Sir also used to encourage me a lot for preparing for Judicial Services.
Good things
It was a nice experience, sir was very interactive, co-operative and encouraging. He always gave me a practical perspective of the legal career. I also had a very basic experience of the working environment of the courts and the field of litigation.
Bad Things
Nothing as such.
Accommodation
Lucknow is my hometown, so I stayed in my home.
Biggest Lessons
That litigation is not at all unsafe or inappropriate for women. Also, during the meeting with the client, I learned how to handle clients!
Overall Rating
8 out of 10.
