First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

At first, I reached the office where I met Mahendra Sir and was introduced to all the associates working there. They all were very warm and forthcoming. I was told to be present in the Chamber at Rajasthan High Court on the next day which was Monday.

The infrastructure of the office was very good, there was ample space for the interns and the associates. All of this was accompanied by a rich library with wide-ranging books to read and research.

Main tasks

Mahendra Sir takes only High Court cases of wide-ranging nature. Most of the cases were Civil and Criminal Writs. Firstly, I was told to read a few case files so as to understand the format. Mostly the cases which I read were the current one which was to be presented in the court the very next day. This was done so that interns can relate to the arguments in the courts.

Secondly, after reading the case files I was asked to make Case Notes. The Case Notes were then analyzed by Mahendra Sir. Because of this practice my legal language became strong and I could always refer to my notes in the court whenever listening to arguments.

Thirdly, sir also explained to us about the court procedure and its hierarchy. Sometimes sir also used to give us some research work related to law. After coming back all the interns used to research and then next day discuss the same with sir. The associates were also very helping we used to clear our doubts by their help.

Lastly, in the end, we were taught how to draft legal notice. Sir told us the basics about drafting and I drafted some legal notices. These legal notices which I drafted were of an imaginary situation, but of great use in future.

Best things

One of the best things about this internship was the basics which we learnt about courts and law. These basics are so important that they will definitely help us in future internships with firms and companies. Also, the liberty which all the interns get is pretty amazing. Sir also encouraged all of us to read as many books as possible. He also gave us some of his suggestions for reading.

Bad Things

No bad things.

No stipend.
