First Day Formalities, First Impression
The first day was welcoming, I was asked to report at 9.30 am, I met Adv. Amrita Joshi, who is also the internship coordinator. She inquired about the past internships and the subject areas wherein I would like to work. I was allotted a separate desk and was asked to read a case file. I was introduced to the Associates and co-interns.
The first impression of the firm was great. The office is situated at the basement. It has a conducive work environment wherein all the associates and interns have separate desks. Each intern is allotted a separate desk with a computer system. The partners have a cabin. The office is well furnished with all the required amenities. The culture of the firm is very professional and at the same time is friendly. The mentors are very approachable.
The firm majorly deals in the areas pertaining to money laundering, corruption cases, family matters. There was a wide variety of work to do. Although the immediate supervisor is Amrita Ma’am, all the Associates delegate the work.
The work is supervised and reviewed. There is always work for you. Of course, it also depends on the keenness. Initially, I read case files and prepared briefs. I also did research on various current issues and case laws including Bitcoins (Yes, the work is interesting!). Then there was work relating to drafting and scrutinizing of documents.
There were also a few court visits though there are not many. During the tenure, I visited courts twice. One with the Associates and other with a fellow intern, to file an application. The best part being, you are relied upon when you are entrusted with some work.
The work is diverse and adds on to the legal as well as practical knowledge. With the supervisors being so approachable, there seems no hesitation in going up to them to clarify your doubts. Also, the work is reviewed which makes sure that the work you are doing is in the correct manner. The Partners as well as the Associates are very helpful.
I stayed in a flat in Lajpat Nagar 1 along with my batch mates who were also interning in Delhi.
