How did you apply for the internship?
I applied through LinkedIn only. I was new to LinkedIn at that point in time and just got an update about the Internship application from LinkedIn only.
I submitted my resume and received a mail from them that they have selected me for the Internship.
You can also apply by mailing them your CV at lawessentials1234@gmail.com with a proper cover letter and just a tip.
If you have written any blog or article previously, you can also attach it for increasing the chance of getting selected.
First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Law Essentials, Ms. Vijetha Chandana Killi took an interactive session online where she told us about how this internship is going to go.
She also explained some basics and give insights about the work of each individual for the upcoming work.
Main Tasks
The main task included were to publish two blogs, one research paper and one case comment.
Work Environment
Since it was an online internship, I didn’t have many opportunities to interact with my co-interns.
However, the work environment was excellent, and my internship coordinator was always kind and helpful during the internship.
Good Things
– Work from home
– No past experience needed to join
– My articles got published free of cost
– Every step guidance from Internship coordinator
– Learned researching, legal writing which ultimately helped me in my law school
Bad Things
– No stipend (even a small remuneration).
– You are expected to know MS Word, citations to the advanced level which makes us ultimately rely on law school, a drawback for 1st-year kids.
– A fee was charged for journal publishing of your research paper.
Stipend
No

Anything else?
Apart from the skills which I am going to talk about later, I realized the purpose of the internship was not to be perfect or be able to find an answer to every question – it was for me to work hard.
Learn what law school does not teach students, I joined this Internship on day three of my law school. I know everybody will agree to the fact that it was to early as a law student to start with his internship.
But with law essentials, I learned the very basic skills like how to do legal research and read a judgment, how to start with your legal writing, which in my view every law student should know even before joining the law school.
At the end of the internship, I was able to get an edge over legal writing and research which eventually helped me in my moots and academics.
Moreover, I was able to publish 2 blogs, 1 case comment, and 1 research paper during this one-month internship which is eventually a great feat for a fresher who just joined law school.
